Hey Crown CIty Rollerz, what do you like best about derby?

I love that it is helping me realize I can do anything I want to. At first I was SUPER hesitant about committing because I was nervous about the aggression that goes along with derby. I didn't think I could be aggressive enough to hold up without crying after getting hit, but I can and I am doing it and I love it.

The competitive nature of the sport and the ability to play as a member of a team. It's also a great workout that never gets boring.

I love the team atmosphere when there isn't high school drama involved.

It is a great sport, and fantastic exercise...the thing I like best about derby is the ONLY thing I think about while doing it is DERBY. All my other problems melt away! Plus, it makes me feel strong, and makes people say, "oh my god, you DO that?!" when I tell them I play :)

Well I'm still new at this, but I love the skills.

It’s the 1-2 hours the rest of the world disappears during my day.

That it challenges me in ways I've never allowed myself to be challenged physically. The unique combination of physicality, entertainment, sisterhood and good will the sport offers.

I love being part of a team; part of a group of women that you know will have your back. I love being part of a physical, competitive sport that celebrates strong women. I love practicing a sport that allows me to work hard and get better.

I like being part of a team and I'm really excited to find something physical that I can get into. I'm looking forward to the positive effects to my self-esteem and my body. And I just like to have fun and spend a little time on myself outside of the kids and hubby. :)

Blocking folks from passing on the inside, bootie blocking, hits, you name it!

There is just too many things to list.

Best? I like everything a whole lot. :) To answer generally - the challenge, both mentally & physically, it presents to me, and knowing that derby is never perfect. To answer quite literally, I like working on creating a pack mentality; getting used to and knowing the player around me, learning how to waterfall just from knowing who is around you and learning how they skate with others. I enjoy developing new skills and practicing them in bout situations - when something you see/learn clicks - and you use it to your teams advantage? Awesome. Most of all? If it ain't fun, it ain't derby. This must must must never be forgotten. And having fun does not have to equivocate to me not busting my ass on that track. You mess with team, you mess with me. :) But I'll have fun wrecking you at least. lol Skate Like You Mean It - my personal slogan.

I like to be where the action is. I’m not scared to do anything, or take chances or penalties. Wish we had extreme derby, I would love that! I love the work out I get from Roller Derby practice! As we learn more and more about roller derby, I am anticipating the satisfaction that will come from bouts. I like the thrill of being agile on skates. I enjoy being in a team scenario and am beginning to understand the strategy of the game. I enjoy learning new things. Most of all, I like the people I am involved with.

Team play, encourages me & drives me. The physical activity to push yourself and the competition.

Being involved in a team sport.

Endurance and the workout. It's something fun to do way from home.
